Timeline Event:


Nov 16, 1943

The USS Corvina (SS-226) was sunk by the Japanese submarine I-176 near Truk atoll. Corvina is the only American submarine known to be sunk by a Japanese submarine in WWII. She and her brave crew of eighty-two were reported as "overdo, presumed lost" on 23 December 1943.
