Operation Forager: Invasion of Saipan - Following intensive naval gunfire, carrier-based aircraft bombing, and UDT reconnaissance, Task Force 52, commanded by Vice Admiral Richmond K. Turner, landed the 2nd and 4th Marine Divisions, commanded by Lieutenant General Holland M. Smith on Saipan.
